The United States Mint 50 State Quarters Program began in 1999 will produce a series of 50 quarter dollar coins with special designs honoring each state and commemorating their entrance into the Union. States are being commemorated in the order of their entrance into statehood. Five different designs will be issued each year during the period 1999 - 2008. Each state theme is being proposed, and approved, by the governor of the state. Final designs will be created by mint personnel. Need Something to Hold your State Quarters in?
